  • Fabric shades for boat house

Architen Landrell was commissioned to provide a series of Brise Soleil to the boat house at Englands most famous private school. The fabric architecture displayed in these canopies enhances the frontage to this new building at Eton College and gives solar shading to its occupants.

The boat house at Dorney Lake is the newest addition to the collection of buildings that make up Eton College. The boat house, which is used primarily in the early morning and early evening, catches the sun in a striking fashion, however, a desire for solar shading meant Architen Landrell were brought in to provide a stylish and practical solution.

PTFE coated glass cloth was used to create the Brise Soleil, which were added to the north west and south east faces of the building to provide as much shading as possible. The structure itself was attached to the roof using stainless steel cables to tension it.

The distinct form of the tensile canopies enhances the front of the building and as the sun sets over the lake the canopy is lit up brilliantly, creating a striking piece of fabric architecture.
